Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique

The IV Certificate Program provides comprehensive sterile compounding and aseptic technique training that consists of hybrid instruction, live (hands-on) skills training and competency testing (40.0 contact hours and 4.0 CEUs). The course textbook is required for this course. A printable certificate and CEU credit will be award upon successful completion of course requirements, including documentation of training hours and evaluation of CPE Activity.

Objectives
Pharmacists and Pharmacy Interns:
- Verify components and determine compatibility of compounded sterile preparations (CSPs)
- Perform and verify pharmaceutical calculations required in sterile compounding
- Demonstrate proficiency in garbing, hand hygiene, cleaning and disinfection of PEC, and various CSPs
- Assess current USP<797> standards, and apply to didactic and experiential coursework
Technicians and Trainees:
- Identify components of and factors affecting compatibility of CSPs
- Perform pharmaceutical calculations required in sterile compounding
- Demonstrate proficiency in garbing, hand hygiene, cleaning and disinfection of PEC, and various CSPs
- Apply current USP<797> standards to didactic and experiential coursework
Course Details
The course is recommended for pharmacists, technicians and pharmacy personnel who have a minimum of one year of pharmacy experience, and a minimum of six months of sterile compounding experience. The course requirements include, but not limited to:
– 16 Online Modules
– 2 Days of Hands-On Training
– 2 Days of Hands-On Training
– 2 Written Exams and 2 Laboratory Exams
